The rules for naturalisation and civic integration (inburgering) have been debated repeatedly, and proposals are not always the same as the law in force. Asylum status holders: since 12 June 2026 you can no longer naturalise with a temporary asylum permit. You first need an EU long-term resident permit (which requires A2 inburgering and independent, sustainable income), and then you can apply for Dutch citizenship.
